der Gestreiftemann, translated to "the Striped Man," is an ancient folk tale from Germany.

In the stories, der Gestreiftemann feeds off of sins, pain and traumatic thoughts/memories. He is said to manipulate poor souls into doing his bidding,

and can sometimes brainwash them into becoming cold blooded killers for him.
